Not that I really should care what my husband's mother's half-sisters think, but ya know? Sometimes I just get irritated. I can write a whole post about something, and all they pay attention to is one sentence, or one paragraph that they disagree with. Then they leave comments as long as my entire post.
I was really hurt by that when we first moved here. It didn't matter what I said, or wrote about, or thought, they found something they didn't like about it. Now I can generally anticipate what will set them off, and occasionally choose to write about it anyway.
Take the latest, for instance, about Halloween. I've researched the origins, I've researched the meaning that it has for Satanists, Wiccans, cultists and those generally out to do harm. It's an evil holiday. We don't celebrate it.
They do. That's fine. But they both admit that it's origins are evil and say at the same time that they celebrate it anyway, and don't teach the origins to their children and grandchildren.
Somehow, that seems rather inconsistent to me.

Can I just say...the aunts=stupid.
thanks. I just wanted to get that off my chest. :)
Oh, and PS...I love you. You do not = stupid.
lol. Rach, you rock.
I wanted to say something yesterday, but I couldn't quite find the words to express it. Rachel hath found the perfect words.
I almost started laughing when they started going into the bit about using what the church does to justify their actions.
Frankly, knowing several former wiccans who became Christians, and knowing the stories of what really goes on, I can't imagine how anyone could practice the holiday under Christ. Granted, I know more than most. But, if you consider that the reason why we dress our kids up is long standing traditions of spirits and spectres appearing in different forms. And the phrase trick-or-treat is a physical representation of bless me or I'll curse you. Little kids used to steal furniture off of the porch and burn it. Teaching of origins or not, that alone has a spiritual heritage that is disgusting... much less any of the other despicable things that go on that day.
Ach! I'm ranting. Oops. Sorry. I'm done now.
Praying for you!
Ditto to Rach? :-)
Yeah, I read it. Actually held my fingers back from telling her she was stupid, figuring I would get the opportunity on here and that would be smarter.
"Good grief"
P.S. Everything is okay because all the churches do it? Why didn't I know this.....
Okay. Wow. I had only read Motts first two comments until just now. I'm almost in disbelief and I wanted to smack them all!
However, please tell Nate that, although I've always had great respect for him, it just took a great big step upward. Holy cow. I'm in complete agreement with you.
